We headed
out for a quick look at the reef.
My first
dive was on a slab I dive often. There were a few bugs,
and a few snapper. Lots of TRIGGER
FISH. I was hanging upside down looking into a cave
full of lobster when I felt a sharp pain on my forehead.
I thought I banged my head into the reef. I went back to
work on the lobster when I felt another jolt of pain. I
looked into the eyes of the trigger fish that just bit
my forehead twice. I then remember Andy said on his
dive, he was uneasy having the "wolf pack" of
trigger fish following him down the reef. It was then
that I noticed there were more trigger fish around me
than I had ever seen. For a brief second I thought they
were going to rip me apart, like piranhas. Then I came
to my senses and started hunting again.
My second
dive was on a small reef south of the main ledge. There
were a few eels in every hole. Not much else except a
couple lobster, including the 12lb cockroach bagged by
yours truly. There was a large net hung in the reef,
The third
dive was on a reef known for holding red grouper. Big
red grouper. A small ledge out in the middle of nowhere.
There were three caves, two had lobster. One had a red
grouper that was around thirty pounds. Those red grouper
must be the stupidest fish in the ocean. He was begging
to be shot. I knew that I wouldn't eat that old chewy
worm infested nasty red grouper. I left it for the
tyros.
