Hello All Seahunters,

I hate to be the one to bring the bad news. Due to years of mis-management of our fisheries, the government is planning to close vast areas offshore Daytona and Cape Canaveral to all fishing.

The problem is overharvest. The government is still going to allow the commercial guys to take all the reef fish they can stuff in their boat. Now these guys are going to be squeezed into a tighter area with the rest of us, but they are not going to take less. This should deplete the areas outside the closed areas in short order.

The problem is overharvest. The commercial guys write the laws for their own gain. The commercial fishing industry is the problem, and they will stop at nothing to keep the fish coming over the gunnels until there are no more. Please spend a minute filling out our online comment form, and let the government know that you will not stand idle while they allow unchecked commercial harvest.
